...is green, paper-free, and fully electronic-based, using state-of-the-art web-based software to help counselors seamlessly handle all aspects of their part of practice management, such as: electronic health record software, HIPAA-secure messaging, Telehealth platform, & managing your own schedule. We are also an Apple-loving practice, so MacBooks & iPhones are required to help us manage seamlessly!

Enough About Us, Who Are You?

Coastal Light Employment Qualifications

We will evaluate and hire candidates based on the following minimum qualifications:
​

  • Comfortable in the use of electronic devices (MacBooks, iPhones) & online software - It's kind of hard to work in an electronically-run practice without this skill!

  • We really like exclamation points! If you only use periods and not exclamation points, this probably isn't the practice for you! Seriously - we're totally not joking. Friendly communication is essential.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Confident and secure enough to respond openly, not defensively, to feedback

  • Ability to be non-judgmental and accepting

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and values empathy as a cornerstone of counseling

  • Problem solving skills

  • Interpersonal and rapport-building skills

  • Adaptability

  • High level of self-awareness and willingness to learn/change

  • High level of social-awareness and multi-cultural competency

  • Conscientious and respectful of authority

  • Humble, patient, & kind

  • Willingness to use the term "Patient" rather than "client", as we find this an important way to advocate for our profession in the medical field

  • Must focus on their own physical, mental, & emotional health and reflect that in their daily lives

  • Smells nice (or at least doesn't stink ;) - especially when having in-person sessions. You can be as stinky as you want if you're doing teletherapy from home!

  • For couples therapists: Advanced training in providing therapy to couples (elective course in grad school or post-grad training)

Preferred qualifications:
​

  • Incorporates a psychodynamic perspective to address the root causes of patients' issues

  • Has attended counseling theirself, to work through underlying issues and knows what it's like on the other side of the room

  • Currently licensed to practice INDEPENDENTLY (if soon-to-be licensed, it's preferable that you have passed the NCMHCE - if so, tell us in your cover letter).

Pay (a.k.a. the reason you've read this far)

Compensation is commission/percentage-based, fee-for-service, and paid out monthly. Basically, at the beginning of each month, you are paid a percentage of the total income you brought into the practice the month before. For those who need stability, partial salary may be considered; however, your earning potential is much higher when you earn based on commission.

Earning Potential for Commission:

If you work full-time and have an average of 30 sessions per week, 48 weeks out of the year (because everyone needs at least 4 weeks of vacation per year!), you have the potential to earn $97,000 (working only with individual patients at insurance rates). The more self-pay individuals and couples you see, the higher earning potential you have.  And, of course, your earning potential increases each year when our rates increase and whenever insurance allowable amounts increase, usually every 1-2 years.

If you prefer to maintain a part-time caseload with an average of 20 sessions per week, with 4 weeks of vacation, your earning potential is around $65,000 and up.​
